Check players in with a tap or a scan.

Each player gets a small NFC tag, a QR sticker, or both. Tap the tag or scan the code with your camera and they are checked in, with their tag number on your screen. No tag with them? Enter their name instead. Same steps on iPhone and Android.

3 Riley Rhodes Checked in

On tag night

No sign-up sheet, no typing, no scrolling through a name list. It takes a second per player.

  1. Open Event Check-In

Use the Event Check-In button on your club page. Enter your club's Tag Master code and pick the event. Your phone remembers it for the night.

  2. Tap or scan each player

Tap each player's NFC tag to the back of the phone, or press Scan QR codes and point the camera at their QR sticker, one after another. If a player has no tag with them, open No tag? and enter their name instead.

  3. They are in

The big tag on your screen turns into theirs: name and tag number. The checked-in list counts up.

It works with your club's tag type

A tap or a scan does the right thing for how your club plays.

Rotational (Physical) Tags

A tap or scan checks the player in with the tag they last held. The first time, or if their last tag is unknown, you type the number once and it is remembered.

The NFC tag is only a quick way to say who is playing. The numbered tag in their bag still changes hands as usual.

Virtual Tags

Every player already has a single tag for the season. Give it an NFC chip or QR sticker and one tap or scan checks them in with their current virtual tag number. After the event the numbers move online.

Players can still check themselves in with their access code. Tapping or scanning is the faster option for the Tag Master.

Offline Tags

On the offline scorecard, press Scan QR codes to add players, or tap NFC tags on Android. The page reads the tag number and asks who is holding it tonight. Their name goes on the card with that tag in. The player list and scanner are saved on your phone, so it works with no signal.

QR scanning works offline on iPhone and Android. NFC tapping is Android only.

Which phone do you have?

Three ways to check a player in: tap their NFC tag, scan their QR code, or enter their name. QR and name entry work on every phone. Android can also read NFC tags right on the page.

No signalTaps and scans are saved on the phone and sent when signal returns.QR scans on the offline scorecard work with no signal. NFC tags open a web page, so they need a little signal.

When something does not work

The phone does nothing when I tap

Make sure NFC is on in your phone settings. Take off a thick or metal case. Try the top edge of an iPhone and the middle of an Android's back, and hold still for a second.

It says the tag isn't on the roster

Rotational and offline clubs: the Tag Master can open No tag? and add them with Add a new player, which checks them in right away. Virtual clubs: add them to the Players tab, since they also need an access code and a season tag.

The camera won't read the code

Give it a little light and hold the code about a hand's width from the phone. If the camera never opened, allow camera access for the site in your browser settings.

A player forgot their tag

Use the No tag? tab and check them in by name. It is the same result.

There is no signal at the course

Check-ins are kept on the phone and sent when signal returns, and the page tells you when some are waiting. For a course with no signal at all, use the offline scorecard and scan QR codes.

For Club Masters: turning it on

One-time setup per club. Not needed by Tag Masters.

  1. Add the NfcTap and Payments script files to your club's Apps Script project, set whether it is a physical or virtual club, and set the yearly fee in Payments.
  2. Physical clubs: run the roster setup once so every existing player gets an ID.
  3. Publish a new version of the web app.
  4. Add your club to the club list at the top of the Event Check-In page.
  5. Hand out tags or QR stickers and share the Tag Master code with your Tag Masters.
